THE STORY
A long S that carries the body from shoulder to heel without a single break in the surface. Under the knee the curve reverses, and that reverse is the whole difficulty: bent timber laminate cracks there, steel needs padding to hide the frame. A female mould does it in one pull.
The shell sits on a detachable plinth. Unbolt it and the chaise goes into two crates; unbolt it and the same chaise moves from the living room to the terrace for summer, which is why it is rated for both. Shell in any house colour; the plinth in the same or in contrast.
At 48 kilograms it is our heaviest Tier 2 piece and the one that gets photographed most.
WHY FIBERGLASS
The reverse curve under the knee needs a female mould; wood-bent laminate cracks and steel needs upholstery to hide the frame.
