THE STORY
Turn a small boat over, lift it on a hidden blade, and put a pad on top.
The Hull Bench is 2.8 metres of unbroken curved surface in matte black satin, with no grain, no weld and no seam. Concealed steel legs disappear into a slot underneath so the hull appears to float a hand's width above the floor. Thirty-nine kilograms; one long crate plus a leg set.
It is a silhouette piece. From across a lobby it reads as a single dark line, and that is what it is for — an entrance, a corridor, a gallery wall where anything with legs would look busy. The pad seat is the only soft thing on it.
