THE STORY
The brief was a river stone the size of a bathtub, still wet.
A high-gloss gelcoat over a compound organic volume gives that wet look permanently, in sun or shade. The mouth is soft and slightly irregular, because a perfect ellipse would make it a bowl and not a stone. A drainage boss and a rigid inner liner are standard, so the planter takes soil and water without the shell ever meeting either.
It weighs 26 kilograms. A terracotta pot of this size would be near 200, and would crack the first winter. This one is UV-stable and frost-safe, ships as a single carton on a skid, and is the piece we sell most often in multiples — hotel entrances, beach club paths, a row of three along a terrace edge.
WHY FIBERGLASS
Gloss over a compound organic volume at 26 kg — a fibreglass strength. Terracotta at this size would be 200 kg and fragile.
